EP. 58 Becoming an Outdoors Woman
Peggy Ferrell is the director of the Becoming an Outdoor Woman program. BOW started in 1990 after a conference at UWSP to explore how they could get more women involved in hunting and fishing. Founded by Christine Thomas, the conference led to the first BOW workshop and now the program is in 38 states and 6 Canadian provinces.
The program has expanded worldwide, and some options include a photo safari in Africa or trip to Iceland or Costa Rica. BOW currently offers two three day workshops every year. The format is 1/3 shooting and hunting, 1/3 fishing, and 1/3 other classes such as dog sledding, sewing with fur, kayaking, etc.
Listen in as you hear about the history of the program and what it currently has to offer. Maybe you can find a place to help out this mission, as they are always looking for mentors for the program. -Barb Carey
