The Woman Angler & Adventurer podcast hosts Angie Scott and Barb Carey recently had the pleasure of meeting up with author and hunter K.J. Houtman. They were all attendees of the 2019 Association of Great Lakes Outdoor Writers (AGLOW) conference in beautiful LaCrosse, WI.
Houtman recently released a book entitled, "Why Women Hunt," so it was only fitting that the three women spend some time in a ground blind together on this trip. K.J. was outfitted with her bow, Barb with a crossbow and Angie was more than happy to be armed with only a GoPro to capture the scene.
Unfortunately, no deer graced the women with their presence during the short amount of time at their disposal in between conference events. However, nothing beats spending quality time surrounded by nature with your sisters.
That's just one of the many reasons why women hunt. In her intimate examination of 18 different women hunters from all over the United States, Houtman reveals the diverse and deep motivations for hunting these women have.
Hunters and non-hunters alike will be inspired by their stories which are accompanied by some beautiful photography.
Be sure and listen in to today's episode to find out more about this rapidly growing segment of the outdoor industry and gain some insight into the why behind it all. Then pick up a copy of K.J. Houtman's "Why Women Hunt." While you're at it, pick up an extra to gift to a family member or friend as (Christmas is just around the corner)!
