Imagine this scenario: You start tournament fishing the Bassmaster Youth Trail at 15 years old because you're so fired up and passionate about the sport. You turn 18 and are now too old to continue fishing the trail so what do you do next? Logically you look for a local club to join...but wait...they don't allow girls?
This is the scenario that happened to this week's guest, Florida angler Christina Weber. Since 15 it seems like Christina's done a little bit of everything in fishing. From fishing tournaments to public speaking (she's really good by-the-way!) to kayak fishing to running a skiff. What's next? Fly fishing? There are no limits!
The 44th Annual National Wild Turkey Federation Convention and Sport Show is a wrap! Conveniently located in Nashville, TN at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center, I was on hand to take it all in and meet up with a few awesome ladies.
On this week's episode of The Woman Angler & Adventurer podcast I chat with NWTF Spokesperson and "The First Lady of Hunting," Brenda Valentine to talk about the 2020 show.
As we were driving to the address where we were going to be meeting our fishing guide for the morning, Captain Debbie Hanson, I immediately felt something was odd. "We" being my wife Dana and our two dogs Sophie & Squirty. (Debbie was kind enough to allow them to tag along after I explained the dogs love being on the boat but have absolutely no interest in jumping in. This was important as on occasion a gator might be sighted in the area.)
Having never been where we were headed before I couldn't believe how big Punta Gorda, FL is. We were planning on meeting some old friends of Dana's near Fisherman's Village in Punta Gorda after our fishing outing and assumed it was going to be close. Turns out it was over a 30-minute drive away!
