EP. 280 Abatement Falconry, Catching Pythons, and Catching Fish...can You Say Adventure?

EP. 280 Abatement Falconry, Catching Pythons, and Catching Fish...can You Say Adventure?

My journey in Southwest Florida has ended for this season, but only after going out with a bang!

On this week's episode of The Woman Angler & Adventurer podcast, you will meet a true adventurer through and through.

My guest Erica Holla a.k.a. Everglades Erica, has pretty much done it all when it comes to Southwest Florida wildlife, including catching gators and pythons and, more recently, working with birds of prey to keep nuisance birds under control where needed at venues such as landfills, sports arenas, and airports to name a few.

EP. 87 Stranded on Jewel Key: Everglades Fishing Adventure with Katie Puterbaugh from Alaska

EP. 87 Stranded on Jewel Key: Everglades Fishing Adventure with Katie Puterbaugh from Alaska

Picture this. It's a sweltering hot, windy day in the Everglades. You're covered head to toe in UV protective clothing to avoid getting sunburned on top of the sunburn you already have from the fishing outing a couple of days earlier (lesson learned the hard way!). You're fishing the flats with a super experienced captain and guide and you're paired up with an airforce vet who traveled all the way down from Alaska to be a part of this amazing adventure. The fishing's been hard due to the windy conditions and the partly cloudy skies. It's finally time to break for lunch. Then...the unthinkable happens...

You'll have to listen to this week's episode to get "the rest of the story!"

EP. 85 Redfish Roadie Florida Recap

EP. 85 Redfish Roadie Florida Recap
"19 Days, 3,796 Miles, 5 States, starting in Nashville and heading to Homosassa, FL then all along the coast to New Orleans, LA with the goal to fish and meet up with as many women as we can along the way." That was the premise of the 2019 edition of Rip and Hopper's Adventure, the Redfish Roadie Road Trip. In a nutshell, it was pretty darn epic.

As you may recall waaaay back on Episode 16 of The Woman Angler & Adventurer podcast Angie Scott interviewed Jen Ripple from DUN Magazine and Heather Hodson from United Women on the Fly at Fly South in Nashville as they were about to embark on their first Rip and Hopper's Adventure. (By-the-way, that episode won 1st place at the Tennessee Outdoor Writers Association 2019 Excellence in Craft Awards in the Radio/Podcast category!) Well, fast forward a year later, Angie Scott had the honor of tagging along on the 2nd incarnation of the trip!
