EP. 272 NPAA Conference and Women’s Kayak Fishing Meetup Recap
Special thanks to Lieza Fitzgerald, Gabriella McGrath and Debbie Hanson for sharing their thoughts.
This week's special guest, Nebraskan Jennifer Mues, is one busy lady. She's a Professional Kayak Angler, a Podcast Host herself (of the Bass Fishing Dads Podcast), Social Media Consultant, and Sponsored Angler & Regional Team Leader for Bonafide Kayaks. If all that didn't keep her busy enough, she's also a busy wife and mother.
In this episode, Jennifer talks about how she got into kayak fishing, her journey to fishing the 1st official Kayak Fishing Event at the Bassmaster Classic, which was earlier this year at Possum Kingdom Lake in Mineral Wells, TX. Plus she shares a harrowing story that happened during practice fishing for that event which very easily could have ended in tragedy.
Angie Scott recently met up with the Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation's Senior Manager of Strategic Partnerships Rachel Auslander at Media Day during the 2019 Geico Bassmaster Classic presented by Dick’s Sporting Goods. Rachel was on hand to answer any questions about the Take Me Fishing brand and initiatives, handing out press kits, research and information on the work RBFF is doing to advance fishing and boating participation. RBFF was also there sponsoring the Bassmaster Get Hooked on Fishing Kids area at the Classic.
You may recall back in July Angie chatted with RBFF's Director of Marketing Rachel Piacenza about their new women's initiative called "Making Waves." (Episode 18). On this week's episode, Rachel A. gives us some insight on the 2.0 version of the initiative as well as what RBFF's been up to in their efforts to grow participation in recreational fishing to 60 million in 60 months. Exciting stuff! Help support the cause by sharing about it on social media and more importantly, introducing someone new to the sport!
