Steelhead are a massive trout (rainbow) that migrate into the streams from the Great Lakes. Steelhead and salmon are native to the Pacific Northwest but in the 1960s, a very successful stocking program developed into a multi-billion dollar fishing and boating tourism industry in the Great Lakes Region.
