EP. 281 The Importance of Getting Outdoors To Relieve Depression and Anxiety
Terrie Huffmaster has dealt with these issues for years and found one thing that has helped her manage the symptoms- being outdoors and fishing.
Her Instagram bio says it best, "Adventures of a girl, a griff, and a saltwater skiff." On this week's episode of The Woman Angler & Adventurer podcast, meet outdoor lover Kelsey Dick!
She loves fishing because it puts her out in nature, she has an adorable first mate, Darwin, a Brussels Griffin (who has an uncanny knack for fishing), and lives her passion through her career in marketing for one of the most iconic brands in the industry, Shimano North America. It's an honor to get to introduce you to Kelsey (now Captain Kelsey) and I have no doubt you'll be inspired.
It's a hot topic these days across industries and workplaces but perhaps more important than ever in the outdoors world for many reasons...D.E.I. which stands for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. That's were Camber Outdoors steps in with a long history of expertise.
My special guest on this week's episode of The Woman Angler & Adventurer podcast is the CEO of Camber Outdoors, Tiffany Smith, to talk about their important work in this space, the progress that is being made, and what we can expect to see in the future.
Let's face it, it affects half the world's population, and as active outdoors women, we have to pay extra attention to our female bodies so we may as well talk about it! Let's get it out in the open- this week's topic is all about periods and menstrual cycles!
Welcome my special guest, Angie Marie (oddly enough we share the same name) from The Hormone Hacker. Angie shares some great tips and advice on how we can stop fighting our period and all the lovely side effects that come along with it and whoop it into our superpower! She also gives great tips to make things a lot easier for us on those long days in the boat or in the field.
I recently had the opportunity to do a tour of the St. Croix Rods headquarters in Park Falls, WI. I have to say, if you're into fishing and you ever have the opportunity to do this free tour, I highly recommend you do it! The manufacturing process of a fishing rod is unbelievable. At St. Croix, they even make their own blanks, and to able to witness that process alone is phenomenal.
Before that, I had the opportunity to meet and chat with Savannah Stenlund, the new Angler Engagement Coordinator with the company. I can't wait for you all to have the chance to meet her as well on this week's episode!
