Wrapping up the special Breaking the Ice Series with conversations with not one, but two amazing woman ice anlgers...Jessi Havemeier and Katie Halverson. Both are active members of Women Anglers of Minnesota (WAM) and have a passion for passing their knowledge onto others.

"Jessi is a single mom who is very unique. She is a strong independent woman who has a passion for fishing and classic trucks. Many times you will find posts on what she is working on her classic truck doing most of the work on her own! As an ice angler she is an independent angler who goes out on her own to find her own fish, drill her own holes and of course clean her catch!

EP. 53 Pat Green on Fishing with Parkinson's Disease

Pat Green grew up fishing in Northern MN with her Grandparents. She developed her passion at a young age, and it followed her into adulthood even though she moved to the Chicago area, Pat would even fish on her lunch hour while working, taking full advantage of the pond that was near where she worked, Lunch hour bluegills were her stress release.

In her early 50's Pat, was diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson's disease. Parkinson's is a long-term degenerative disorder of the central nervous system that mainly affects the motor system. The news was devastating, but after her Dr told her to use it or lose it, she hasn't looked back. Listen is as Pat shares some insights into her life, and how fishing has helped her along the way. It may do us all a bit of good, to check in to see if our glass is half empty or half full.

Anyone who ice fishes has heard of Dave Genz. Dave is called the godfather of ice fishing and has revolutionized the sport. Many people don’t realize that behind the scenes was his wife Patsy and daughters, Missy and Kathy. From actually sewing the shacks, to wrapping hooks with lead and packaging maggots to be shipped around the country those three women were and are an important part of this legacy. Missy and Kathy said they didn’t grow up fishing, they grew up catching! Listen in as we talk to the three of them around their kitchen table, and find out the rest of the story.
