EP. 58 Becoming an Outdoors Woman

EP. 58 Becoming an Outdoors Woman
Peggy Ferrell is the director of the Becoming an Outdoor Woman program. BOW started in 1990 after a conference at UWSP to explore how they could get more women involved in hunting and fishing. Founded by Christine Thomas, the conference led to the first BOW workshop and now the program is in 38 states and 6 Canadian provinces.

The program has expanded worldwide, and some options include a photo safari in Africa or trip to Iceland or Costa Rica.  BOW currently offers two three day workshops every year. The format is  1/3 shooting and hunting, 1/3 fishing, and 1/3 other classes such as dog sledding, sewing with fur, kayaking, etc.

Ernest Hemingway once said, “The Earth is a fine place and worth fighting for.” If you're a person who enjoys things like hunting, fishing and other outdoor adventures you no doubt agree. You've experienced the amazing beauty of a sunset on the lake in the summertime or the serene peace deep in the woods as the early morning fog begins to lift.

As outdoorswomen, we're called to protect & improve the valuable resources that allow us to experience all the special moments that keep us doing what we love to do.
