My first Bassmaster Classic experience was in 2019 when the big show was in Knoxville, TN. I was in the middle of a very pivotal moment in my life. I'll never forget conversing with fishing icon Al Lindner right before I decided to attend.

I had reached out to him online for advice, and a few days later, out of the blue, I received a phone call from a Brainerd, MN area code. I thought that was strange, so I answered, and lo and behold, it was Mr. Lindner.

EP. 202 New To Fishing, but She Is Absolutely Hooked! Meet Fancy Pants Fishing Kat Jones.

This week I'm excited to introduce you to someone who only started fishing in the last couple years, but she's all in. @fancypantsfishing is her Facebook and Instagram handle (go give her a follow!). Her actual name is Kat Jones, and I was thrilled to have the chance to meet her in-person while we were down at Logan Martin for the LBAA Classic.

It's hard to beat the passion of someone who is new to the sport and has a love for it like Kat clearly does. She's even toying with the idea of trying out an LBAA event or 2 next year as a Co-Angler! Kat came to a couple of our weigh-ins during the tournament and I think the ladies may have made a bit of an impression. Alisa Johnson even brought Kat's kids up on stage with her for her weigh-in, and they got to meet and collect autographs from all the qualifiers. It was a special thing to see!

We had such a fantastic time fishing with Captain Mark Cahlik with Mark1 Sportfishing and Bays Edge Resort up on Lake Erie out of Port Clinton, OH a few weeks ago that he invited us back up to have a go at smallmouth bass this time around. What a treat that was! These smallmouth on Lake Erie are no joke. We caught a bunch of chunks that meant business and we had an absolute ball!

Welcome to this week's episode, all about the Girl's Trip I went on with Jen Ripple from DUN Magazine and Outdoor Girls Cheryl Smith. It was a whirlwind of a trip, but so incredibly worth it!

I drove two hours from Nashville up to Land Between the Lakes to meet up with Jen on an early Monday morning. We loaded up the truck and continued our trek north 8.5 hours to Port Clinton, OH. In retrospect, we wondered why we didn't just fly up, but I'm glad we didn't. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time!
