    Pat Green grew up fishing in Northern MN with her Grandparents. She developed her passion at a young age, and it followed her into adulthood even though she moved to the Chicago area, Pat would even fish on her lunch hour while working, taking full advantage of the pond that was near where she worked, Lunch hour bluegills were her stress release.  

    In her early 50's Pat, was diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson's disease. Parkinson's is a long-term degenerative disorder of the central nervous system that mainly affects the motor system. The news was devastating, but after her Dr told her to use it or lose it, she hasn't looked back. Listen is as Pat shares some insights into her life, and how fishing has helped her along the way. It may do us all a bit of good, to check in to see if our glass is half empty or half full.

    Do you watch National Geographic's hit series Wicked Tuna? If you do, you've likely been "lured in" by the reality series that follows a group of Gloucester Massachusetts die-hard anglers going after the monstrous and elusive bluefin tuna. You find yourself sitting on the edge of your seat while the captains and their shipmates engage in epic battles trying to boat these beasts that bring large paydays which they need to keep their families afloat season after season.

    One of these shipmates is Angelica Marciano, daughter of Captain Dave Marciano of the FV-Hard Merchandise and now the FV-Falcon. Angelica joined her father and her brother Joe on Season 7 of Wicked Tuna. It's a family affair for the Marcianos, even mother Nancy gets in on the action from time-to-time.

    An article on Fishing Tackle Retailer recently came out titled, "Women Are the Future of Fishing, but Retailers Are Missing Out" and it's been making quite the splash on social media. One of the poignant statements made in the article said:

    "Recent industry research from the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation (RBFF) shows that 45 percent of all new anglers are women. We’re not talking ICAST booth babes with a snapper on Instagram—we’re talking serious anglers who can head to your local fruit jar tournament and smoke the field."

    On this week's episode of The Woman Angler & Adventurer podcast, we feature one such up-and-coming female angler. Meet Maddy Ogg. In her young age and relatively short time in the world of fishing, Maddy already has some major accomplishments under her belt. These include being named Women Anglers of Minnesota Angler of the Year and setting the Minnesota State Record for a catch-and-release pike.
